Blueberries

Smitten Kitchen posted a recipe for Blueberry Crumb Bars recently.

(You should go check out her recipe and her photos, they are outstanding.)

I had some blueberries from the farmer's market.

So I decided to make some.

Best. Blueberry. Cookie. Ever!

Then she posted a recipe for blueberry pancakes.  So I had to try that too.

And lo!  It was excellent.

Luckily Jen from Amazing Trips solved the riddle of which griddle to buy (electric? cast iron?  one burner?  two burner?) and also posted an amazing pancake recipe (which I personally tried and it was so good).

My mom found the Nordicware 2 Burner Reversible Grill Griddle at Costco and it is AWESOME

We made pancakes and fried eggs at the same time!   I cooked pancakes so fast that I actually got to eat breakfast with the family.  Usually I'm stuck at the stove.

What goes with blueberry pancakes?  Blueberry banana smoothies!

Yum!

Who likes blueberries?  Me! Me! Me! I do! I do! I do!

Random Thoughts

I think Golden Shellback electronics waterproofer maybe have been designed especially for me.  (Exhibit A and Exhibit B.)

The Children's Place has cute children's clothes!  And, if you get them on summer clearance with an additional 15% off you can get shirts and shorts for about $3-4 each.

Tessa got this shirt from her Auntie (Thanks Lhevinne!) for her birthday in pink (they only had a photo of the green one on the website) and it is SO CUTE!

BUT… placing an order on July 18 and having it delivered (hopefully) by August 4 is NOT FAST SHIPPING!  SLOWEST SHIPPING EVER!  NOT ACCEPTABLE!  Oh, and if you get cranky and decide to cancel your order because you are mad the shipping is taking so long, you can forget it.  They don't cancel orders.  At all.   Swistle had a few words for The Children's Place too.  AMEN SISTER!

I found this kitty picture here at I Can Has Cheezburger.  Cutest kitty picture ever!  Can you tell I've been thinking about camping lately?

We checked the book Hello, Lulu by Caroline Uff  out from the library and as we were reading it to Emma, Rogene said, "Hey!  That is you and me!"…

Emma is teething today.  A big molar.  She woke up no less than 6 times last night.  Her nickname today shall be "Crabby Patty".

Swimming lessons are SO AWESOME!  I think we may do them all year long!

Happy Second Blogoversary to Me

July 14 was my two year blogoversary.

Last year for my first blogoversary I wrote a really boring post about my blogging history (yawn!).  That was WAY too much work, so this year I'm going to give you a few of my favorite blog tag lines, some favorite photos I've found on blogs, and some funny (at least to me) blog quotes.

Top 3 Favorite Blog Tag Lines…

  1. Miss Zoot - "If You're Looking for Wisdom, Move Along"
  2. Cheeky Lotus - "Does This Blog Make My Butt Look Big?"
  3. Dooce - "All About My Stupid, Boring Life"
  4. Miss Zoot - "Pretend I Said Something Funny"

(Apparently I can't count to 3.)

Top 3 Favorite Blog Kid Pictures (These photos are worth the extra click!)

    1. Mandagirl's "Rock Mustache" photo of her son Isaac.
    2. Kickyboot's "Runneth Over" photo of her daughter Avelyn. (Be sure to check out the waistband of Avelyn's pants.)
    3. Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood's "You Can Never Be Too Prepared… For Dinner?" photo of her son Nolan. (Don't you wonder what goes on at their house at dinner time?)

Top 3 Random Funny Blog Quotes

    1. "Many of the surprises that come with motherhood smell bad and are hard to remove from your upholstery." - Daring Young Mom
    2. (After finding a snake in the yard and asking husband to take care of it…) "Unless loud shrill screeching and hand wringing will lead to the demise of a snake, my presence will be of no use."   - Fiddledeedee
    3. "Note from the first trimester: I can taste my teeth."   - Mighty Girl  (Ah, first trimester of pregnancy… good times, at least for those of us with morning sickness.)

Top 3 Favorite Photos of My Kids Taken in the Last Month (all were taken either by Rogene or his brother Riccoh).

1.

2.

3.

And last of all three funny photos from the Fail Blog.  (Worth the click, I promise!)

    1. Air Conditioning Fail
    2. Strawberry Milkshake Fail (Photo only, video is long and not very funny)
    3. Christmas Fail  (Um, I'll pass on the presents this year Santa.  Thanks anyway.)

It has been a great two years. :)

Barren

JMom over at Lots of Scotts wrote a post today that really explains how I feel a lot of the time.  It is called "Barren" and here is a quote…

I rarely talk about my infertility because I am not a wallower. I don't advocate living in the past. I like to move on. I do, however, think it is necessary to periodically revisit the places where God has delivered you from, if for no other reason than to fully appreciate the gifts we have been given. God eventually answered my prayer for offspring–and He answered it abundantly. This family that exhausts me and pushes me to my limits is nothing short of a God-given miracle.

But what if He hadn't answered me the way I wanted? God does not answer every prayer specifically as requested like some sort of Divine short order cook. I must be careful to not equate His goodness with how large my bank account of blessings is (or isn't). He is who He is. He does what He does and He is the same God in times of plenty and in times of want.

If you've ever been infertile, known someone infertile or just are curious go read the post here.

Hilarious Song for Moms

I posted a video of this song before but it was only half the song.  It is Anita Renfroe condensing all the things a mom says in 24 hours into three minutes to the tune of the William Tell Overture.  Rogene found the full version for me so I'm posting it again.  Enjoy!

The end of this video is so beautiful it made me cry.  It is called Lifehouse's Everything Skit.

(Thanks to my sister for sending me this link to the video.)

Lead Paint Elmo

lead paint elmo

I finally found it!  The recalled Elmo toy I now affectionately call "Lead Paint Elmo."  After searching untold hours for this toy for days on end, Emma came out of her bedroom, where she had apparently stashed it (I wonder if she has other contraband too), and had it IN HER MOUTH!

Thanks for the poisonous toys, Mattel!

Don't worry, I threw him in the trash, along with Lead Paint Elmo Sprinkler, and Tessa entire collection of Killer Magnet Polly Pockets.  I have no idea, now that the boxes are gone, how to distinguish which tiny, tiny parts are part of the recalled Polly Pocket collections.  I figure we will just throw ALL the Polly Pockets away and start fresh.

Anybody else out there eyeing all your kids toys suspiciously now… wondering what else will be recalled?

(Read about the Mattel toy recall here.)

Rainbow of Books

Rainbow of Books

I was inspired to color coordinate my books and join the Rainbow of Books group on Flickr (check it out for some amazing pictures of bookshelves organized by color) by Sundry at Sundrybuzz.  At the very least, it is a free way to add some eye catching color to a room.
