Safety Town
Tessa attended a two week class this summer at a local public school. The class was called "Safety Town" and each day was devoted to a different kind of safety (such as strangers, fire, police, electricity, household (poison), animals, bike, street, etc.). The gymnasium of the school was set up like a town with little houses and roads, stop signs and crosswalks. The kids got to get into the back of a police car, and check out a fire engine. They learned their address and phone number.
It is a great program, and I highly recommend it. But… Tessa HATED Safety Town. I'm not sure why, other than the fact that she didn't want to be left there (even though she had two of her preschool friends there, and also HER PRESCHOOL TEACHER)! I'm glad she went and learned about safety, but frankly I was very glad when it was over.
On graduation day the kids put on a little program to tell about what they learned, to sing their songs for us, and to get their "diploma".
Here is a song Tessa sang on graduation day…
So sorry about the bad video. I was trying to keep Emma from running up to the front to sing with Tessa.

Orange Shirt Day 2007 - Better Late Than Never
Okay, I admit it. We forgot Orange Shirt Day this year. Orange Shirt Day falls on the Friday after Flag Day (in June). Rogene has celebrated this "holiday" at work (our family does it too) for several years now, but somehow forgot this year. Rogene's workplace decided to just go ahead and have a make up Orange Shirt Day this year and here is a photo of the fun…
Join us next year and wear an Orange Shirt on the Friday after Flag Day. You can upload a photo to the Official Orange Shirt Day Website and they will post it. (My sister and brother-in-law are on the front page! They did not forget this year like we did.)
Water Park
One of our favorite things to do this summer was visit local water parks.
Tessa enjoying the spray.
Emma voicing her delight at being sprayed with water.
Tessa trying to stand close to the water spraying pole so she won't get wet. Um, good luck with that Tessa.
Emma escaping the spray.
Tessa doesn't run, she prances. (Photographic evidence below.)
